Middlesex Fells (Long Pond Parking Lot, S Border Rd, Winchester) Dust off your orienteering skills before the spring season starts by joining CSU for this training event! There will be 3-4 short loops (less than 2 km each) set by Becky Carlyle: Do as many or as few as you like. The exercises will be suitable for runners capable of finishing an orange through blue course. The goal is to focus on orienteering basics: compass work, contour interpretation, and distance estimation. Slow it down, practice techniques individually, and work on careful map reading. There will be flags in the woods, but no timing. Parking will be in the two small parking lots along the northern section of S Border Rd. Additional parking lots are available in Winchester center (0.5 mile away). DCR has asked us to make sure that all parking regulations are followed so please check all signage if parking on neighborhood streets. Cost (to cover DCR permit fee, insurance, and maps): Adults - $8 Youth (18 and under) - $5 CSU members - $5 Family max - $16 Event Director: Pia Webb
